"This gave us a wake-up call and we need to give him more attention," said Alan about Michael, who has not been in trouble before. The PSL Police Department is stepping up its efforts to make curfew checks on juveniles on probation and arrest those juveniles with active warrants.

101-year-old Marian Wardell-Qualey sits up in the hospital bed inside of her home in Hobe Sound, FL. An artist and former art teacher, Wardell-Qualey now suffers from many ailments, including macular degeneration, which combined with her otherwise deteriorating state of health, forced her to give up painting the portraits of flowers and nudes that hang on her own walls.
  
Angie Ashworth, 28, rests in the apartment that is attached to her mother's home where she lives in Fort Pierce, FL. In high school Angie could bench press over 300 pounds, but she now suffers from a number of ailments including lymphedema, which causes fluid to pool in her abdomen and legs, creating areas of her body that are difficult to keep clean, and cellulitis, a bacterial infection that has created large open wounds on her legs. Skin grafts used to cover the open sores on her legs have helped as she slowly works toward recovery from the cellulitis. Her mobility has declined, however, as a result of the weight gain and pain associated with the lymphedema.

Dixon died from complications related to AIDS. In the small community of Fort Pierce, FL the number of African American women with AIDS is disproportionately high for the population when compared to other counties in Florida. She lost 2 relatives and her home in the disaster and cannot work as a result of the injury. "Please pray for me. I don't know how I'll sustain my family," she said. The Kemmoune family, from left, Abdel, Clyde (the dog), Diana, Ariana, Lisa and Amber all live in one of the small cabins at Camp Gordon. Lisa cannot keep a job as a result of chronic back pain and a myriad of other health problems that began with a work-related accident in New York where she worked in the subway system. Abdel had been out of work for 5 months, but had recently found a job. Neither have health insurance but are working to get minimal coverage. The family moved to Florida at the suggestion of a doctor, believing that the warm weather may help Lisa's condition, which it did not. They came to live at Camp Gordon as a last resort after falling victim to a housing scam and a lack of a steady income. They hope to move out as soon as possible.From the essay - Camp Gordon.

The night before Charisma was born, Rob talks on the phone with their obstetrician, Dr. Andrew C. Leavitt, after Diane complained about what felt like a constant contraction. Diane, who was doing everything she could to keep her mind off the pain, argued when Dr. Leavitt told them to go to the hospital immediately. "I hate that place," Diane said that evening.
